LofSHE - siggie block exchange

This is what I am contemplating doing for the center of my signature block for the exchange. We have to do a 7" plain muslin block with the hand embroidery no larger than 5".
I had a picture of a double celtic knot sitting out on my sewing desk but it was too big so I cut it back to one. I'm contemplating doing any required writing within the intertwining knot sections. Not sure if I want to do them in green.
I'm going to take this trial block and use it for something else :)
I did a basic, 2 strand, chain stitch and it took about 2 hours to complete. (I was supposed to be knitting but the group did not meet today.)
Happy stitching.

"I Love Snowmen" series

This is the most recent finish in my "I Love Snowmen" series. I have about 2 or 3 left to do then I will make them into christmas ornaments.

They are all about 4 to 5" tall and look great when they are done BUT have a lot of color changes in them which means I have to concentrate really hard when I am sewing them.

Happy stitching.

LofSHE - Secret Sister Exchange

The name of the group is Lady of Steeles Hand Embroidery Group which I will shorten to LofSHE.
We are about finished with the secret sister swap. We are a very international group. I received this lovely flower block from Arwa who lives in Baghdad. I sent some ribbon embroidery supplies to Lata who currently lives in Saudia Arabia.
We are getting ready to start a friendship block exchange which will take a while to complete.
Happy stitching.

Exchange Heaven - "Colour" swap

This is what I sent to Lindsay. She likes snowmen amongst (other things) and requested purple or bright rainbow. I decided to do a snowflake because you cann't have snowmen without them :)

You can find the pattern for the snowflake in the 1995 edition of Vanessa-Ann's Holidays in Cross-Stitch. I used 14 count Aida, 2 shades of purple matt cotton floss from Designed for the Needle and DMC variegated Jewel Effects #E130.
Happy stitching.

Exchange Heaven - Colour swap

This is what I received from Lorna in our recent "colour swap" exchange. It's been a while since she used Aida and I think it is lovely.
Just for fun I took a picture of it sitting in the flower arrangement on my dressing table :)
The colors are variagated aqua through blue and green. They look much brighter in reality.
Thanks Lorna.
Happy stitching.

Greetings

Welcome to my new blog for my cross stitch and embroidery projects. They were originally intermingled with my textiles on one of my other blogs but I felt that they needed to have their "own place to shine" so to speak :)

Most of my pieces are fairly simple but I do have a few "waiting in line" that are more complex. I have a collection of antique samplers and embroidery pieces that I intend to highlight over a period of time.

I have a goodly number of cross stitch books that I collected for a while. I have stitched a number of the pieces but that was pre camera so I have no photographs. Many of them are in far distant places as they were made as gifts.

Happy stitching.
