After trying out all my heart stencils and thinking about flowers I decided to go for something more simple for the hand quilting. I'm also trying to get more even with my straight stitching.
I'm using 2 strands DMC Ecru in the border blocks. I'm working my way round and just have 3 sections to finish.
Then I need to decide how to hang it.
So far the only machine stitching has been the internal seams. I rolled the fabric from back to front and slip stitched it. First time I've tried that on a wall hanging and I like it a lot.
Totally different subject. A package appeared in the mail last night from Little Stitches in Texas. It's an "I asked hubby to get this for my anniversary gift if he had not already bought something". He happily obliged but y'all are going to have to wait for a couple of weeks to see what it is 'cause it's getting wrapped :) Ordered Tuesday, speedy delivery, I am impressed.
I've been having fun zooming around on my supersonic magic carpet visiting the blogs at A Whimsical Bohemian's event. I am #536.

My PIF gift has arrived
It took a while for Elisa's package to get here and I was getting somewhat concerned that the carrier pigeon had lost it's way via Greenland. However it showed up yesterday and I am thrilled. It's gorgeous.
If you want to see some REALLY GOOD photographs of the pillow and Elisa's stitching story then visit her blog at http://paperfaerie71.blogspot.com/
The design is "Little Angel In The Clouds"by Heart in Hand Needleart.
Love it. My daughter wants it in her room :)
My package with the LosS blocks and surprise hostess gift made it to their destination. Barbara was delighted.

Project update - Letters Heart
Sometimes my projects take on a life of their own. This one has morphed into a wall hanging :) I have a lot of stencils so all the heart related ones are sitting in a stack waiting for me to decide which ones I want to use to hand quilt the piece. I also like some of the flowers in the fabric so may opt for that direction. Decisions. Decisions !!!!!!
Now for a totally different subject. There is a HUGE event going on at A Whimsical Bohemian. Click on the link in my side bar and go check out the world wide giveaway participants on her side bar. It's filling up VERY fast and is quite diverse. Enjoy "The Magic Carpet Ride" as you visit many wonderful blogs and make new friends. (Hop on over to my other blog http://ourscottishheritage.blogspot.com to find out what I have decided to do.)

New project - Letters Heart
I saw this design on a few blogs last year and really liked it. I eventually found the pattern and downloaded it. Then at Christmas I received a DMC linen floss kit and lo and behold the color pattern was in there.
I should have the project completely finished by the end of this week-end.
DMC 3712 two strands over 1 on 14 count Aida. It's approx 5"x51/2" though the finished piece will be larger.
Addendum - Some have asked so here's the only link I know about to download the pattern http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/better-homes-gardens/article/-/5827923/christmas-cross-stitch/ (The Linen DMC kit was bought at Michaels.)

Project update - Cirque Des Carreaux
A few weeks ago I put my project to one side to take care of holiday stitching. Since then I've done the 4 tiny squares and 2 oblongs in DMC 320.
I'm currently working on the large right hand square using DMC 3041. The left hand square will be done in the same color.
The color scheme is based on the bedspread in my bedroom.

A birthday gift
This is what I made for my daughter. She likes to hang things on her door handle but it could also be used as a pin cushion. It took about 12 hours. I like how it turned out and my husband is really pleased with it also :)
The flower border is adapted from a Christmas design by I Stitch Charts http://istitchcharts.blogspot.com DMC L760 & L3012 two strands.
The alphabet is from Yarn Tree http://yarntree.com/036alpht.htm using DMC 309 two strands. 28 ct. Aida
The fabrics and rick-rack were in my small projects boxes. I used three different fabrics on the back to create stripes and it took 1 yard of the rick-rack to finish the front and make the handle.
Finished size - 7"x51/2"
I'm now back to stitching Cirque Des Carreaux and plan on having that finished for our wedding anniversary in February.

First project finish for 2010
I don't normally post on the week-end but I have started AND completed my first project for 2010. I'm in shock :)
A freebie from http://passe-tempsdeflo.over-blog.com/ stitched on 14ct. Aida in 3 shades of teal DMC 3847, 3848 and 3849. Total finished size 8"x8". Design size 3 3/4"x3 3/4".
I've also completed all the embroidery blocks for the LofSHe embroidery exchange. Boy am I glad that is finished. Good experience but I'm not sure I would want to do that many again (23). As a group we are creating and participating in a BOM for the rest of this year. Should be interesting. January is a mitten and yours truly has agreed to design a block for one of the months :) I have to decide what fabric I want to use for the background before I can get stitching.
Next project - a birthday present for my youngest daughter. I cannot decide whether I want to quilt, cross-stitch or do a combination of both.

Still here
I'm still here, still stitching away but waiting till something decent comes together before sharing pictures. I'm almost finished with the embroidery blocks for the LofS exchange and am contemplating what to make for my three PIF ladies.

Last project completed in 2009
This is the gift we gave to my mother-in-law for Christmas. I started it at her house when we visited in October :) It sat for a while once it was stitched up and did not get completely finished till a couple of days before Christmas.
Happy New Year to each of you. I hope you accomplish much with your stitching projects and have fun in the process.
